SPIRITUAL GIFTS: TEACHING
Our desire is that every Christ-follower is an active member of a local church and to know what spiritual gifts God has given them for building up the church and the common good. Once you have an idea of how God has gifted you with unique manifestations of the Spirit, use the following next-step guide to help you develop and deploy your gifts as good stewards of God’s varied grace.
TEACHING
The gift of teaching is the divine enablement to understand, clearly explain, and apply the Word of God causing greater Christlikeness in the lives of listeners.
Romans 12:7; 1 Corinthians 12:28-29; Acts 18:24-28; 2 Timothy 2:2; Ephesians 4:11-14
Saturate yourself in the truth of Scripture as your main training. Teachers are those who rightly handle the word of God.
Do the “Grounded Course”, our intermediate theology course.
Listen to lots of good preaching and read lots of good Christian books... not about the gift of teaching, but that is actually doing the teaching.

“Your Gift: Teaching” by Douglas Porter
“The Gift of Teaching” by Chuck Smith
Read “Preaching” by Tim Keller
Put your hand up to facilitate a Life Group evening. Although this largely involves engaging people in conversation it will allow gaps for you to share biblical insight.
Begin writing small notes and expository thoughts on passages of scripture. Start to build up a small library of short teachings that could help you share the word with others. These will come in handy for years.
Look for gaps to share from the scriptures in various Gatherings and contexts, even
short exhortations and say yes to any small teaching gaps.
